festival fever

Festival wear has pervaded pretty much every corner of the fashion world from Forever 21 to the runway. Bell bottoms, fringe, and suede are everywhere. This gorgeous tube top and the most comfortable Flynn Skye pants are my take on bringing festival wear to everyday life. I seriously cannot articulate how comfortable these pants are. I might wear them every. single. day.

Finding truly versatile pieces can be a chore. Incredibly, Stone Cold Fox has managed to produce something that you can wear in front of your television with Ben and Jerry's in hand or out to dinner with a little black slip and some heels - truly ingenious. This robe has my heart for that very reason.

celebrate
ˈseləˌbrāt/
verb
1. publicly acknowledge (a significant or happy day or event) with a social gathering or enjoyable activity.

AND A CELEBRATION IT WAS... Birthday weekend festivities for a very special girl began on Saturday with a brunch at Lockwood Table. The breakfast sandwiches+ mocha's are dank. Dark chocolate accompanied with notes of cinnamon - I am a sucker for a good mocha. Emily has also publicly stated that this is the best mocha she has ever consumed. Needless to say, Emily and I will be regulars this summer.

After Lockwood, we made our way to the Hilton downtown SD. Downtown San Diego is certainly an upcoming edgy area of the city housing an eclectic bunch of restaurants, bars, and shopping that will certainly need to be explored. Shortly after checking in, the birthday girl, Jackie, and I were getting ready for our 7:00 dinner reservation at Bang Bang that we had managed to pull last minute. After Natalie arrived we were off for some delicious sushi, fishbowls, and of course - sake shots (our waitress killed the game bringing two rounds for free - the real MVP).

So Bang Bang is infamous for it's Gosling galore bathroom. Every basic girl takes a picture (or three) in this bathroom - we were no exception.

Following a crazy night at Omnia nightclub, Emily and I made our way to the beach for a stroll. Nothing soothes my soul better than the beach. #RTB

Caught a glimpse of the fair - see you soon!

Em knows me too well. Our beach stroll took us to Dog Beach... dogs were running rampant and splashing around in the water. #heaven

To top off the birthday weekend, dinner at Pacifica Del Mar. Top shelf seafood with a spectacular ocean view accompanied by two free desserts and a martini...

June 14 is certainly a day that calls for celebration - thank God my best friend was born! Happy belated birthday, Em... so grateful that I could actually (finally) celebrate your birthday with you in person. Words really cannot express what you mean to me!

Strange to think this is home for the summer... however, I am not complaining. After struggling with myself for the longest time regarding my summer plans, it is insane to think I have ended up here. My initial thoughts in mission summer plan were "Stay in Ann Arbor, you have a place until August and it would be convenient to not have to move." This was then followed by, "You want to be in New York. Give the city a chance!" Three interviews and two internship offers later and I am obviously not in New York. After many stressful nights and hours of long conversation with my closest friends, I decided I needed to remove myself from any stressful environments. As much as I love the city, it is not always peaceful and serene with the hustle and bustle accompanied with the "the city never sleeps" mantra. With all that said, SoCal is home for the summer and I could not be more at peace with my decision. Crazy to digest the fact that God knew all along where I would end up all along. I believe He put me in this place for a reason this summer and I can't wait to find out what that reason is. Jeremiah 29:11 comes to mind immediately when I think of where I am now... "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." For anyone who is stressing about the future, hopefully that verse is a gentle reminder. I obviously didn't take the memo and it could have saved me from some restless nights. I have a great internship, am living with one of my best friends, and have incredible places to explore. Excited for the adventures to come! #feelingblessed

p.s. might come here every single day.
